As the first LEED certified construction project in the Shenandoah Valley, the USDA Forest Service Lee Ranger Station included construction management of a new office building. The development of this structure included energy savings via geothermal heat source, energy recovery unit, electronic light ballasts, and motion sensor controlled lighting, and low water volume fixtures. Additionally, Lee Ranger Station incorporates health benefits via low volatile organic compounds (VOC) in construction materials such as adhesives, paints, flooring, and composite materials with no urea formaldehydes. Lastly, Lee Ranger Station utilizes abundant natural lighting for energy savings and aesthetic appeal.
